RPM Italian

RPM Italian has been on my list of places to try since before it even opened. Part of it’s fame stems from two of the owners, Giuliana and Bill Rancic. While celebrity draw is a perfectly fine way to get customers in the door, the menu has to hold up its end of the bargain. And man on man, it did. Come along on this culinary adventure! 

In back, the Piccolo Rosa: cocchi rosa, strawberry and prosecco. And the Glider (my drink of the evening): whiskey, aperol, cappelletti and lemon. This is like a summery Old Fashioned; I loved it so much I had two! 

Appetizers to start for the table: 

Big eye tuna bruschetta with basil aioli on garlic toast

Crispy raviolis with pignoli and spinach. 

Shredded Brussels Sprouts salad with avocado. 

Fresh homemade ricotta with semolina toast

Not a bad way to start a meal! 

And for the mains….

Carbonara-spaghetti, pancetta and egg yolk

Sweet Pea Risotto with English peas and homemade ricotta

Maine lobster ravioli with spinach pasta and lemon

Raviolo a la RPM: spinach, farm egg and black truffle

Post dinner and pre dessert time calls for bathroom selflies! 

Now on to the sweet stuff! Or as my one friend said when the waiter brought our desserts, “holy cannoli!”

Tartufo: hazelnut gelato with a chocolate shell

Bill’s Chocolate Budino-heavenly chocolate mousse with salted caramel and cocoa nibs

Bomboloni with fresh lemon curd and cream

RPM Italian has a gorgeous interior: modern lines and warm color tones make you feel both posh and at home. The waiters all wear white coats for a touch of old world formal. By the time we left (around 6:30 on a Saturday) the place was packed, though the noise level was not obstructive. And one of the valets was nice enough to take our picture!
