After our fun vacation start in Florida, we woke up on Sunday aka cruise day!! Steph and I took the hotel shuttle to the cruise port and got checked in.

Packing light is clearly not a skill we possess.

Once on board we made it our mission to explore each floor and chat about everything we wanted to check out during the week.

Steph and I snagged a great spot for our sail away and watched another ship depart.

Our ship was supposed to sail at 5pm but after an hour plus delay (which they claimed was due to customs issues) we grew tired of waiting on deck. Instead Steph and I headed up to the Viking Crown lounge to enjoy cocktails while bidding bon voyage to Florida.

Finally we set sail! Steph and I ran back outside for a few snaps.

We changed for dinner and had our first meal in the Adagio dining room.

Smoked Fish with Crostini

Steak and Spinach Salad with radishes, tomatoes and mushrooms

Peach and Blueberry Cobbler

After dinner we went to OceanAria at the Aqua Theater, one of the on board shows. It was a spectacular show and my favorite of the week. The best way I can describe it is Cirque du Soleil meets Olympian divers. I was gasping and clapping the whole show!

On to Monday! Steph and I were anxious to get our tan on, yet we awoke to clouds. And rain. Not exactly the sunny vacation we had envisioned. After breakfast and spa appointments at the Vitality at Sea Spa, we revised our plans for the day. We went to the gym, had a long lunch in the main dining room (tomato risotto with shrimp and scallops for me), and wandered around the ship.

Once the rain had stopped we headed up to the deck in hopes of the sun emerging.

FINALLY Mr. Sun made an appearance, but Steph and I wanted to head inside to play bingo in the Amber Theater. The main prize was a room upgrade to a suite.

With drink in hand I felt confident we had a winning set of bingo cards…but alas it was not our destiny to get upgraded. A bit depressed, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner.

We walked through the Royal Promenade and Central Park levels before dinner at 8:30.

After eating we went to see ‘Chicago’. The Allure of the Seas loves to brag about the fact that they have a Broadway show on board. Hmmm. Ok I have seen ‘Chicago’ (in the West End) and it was spectacular. This….was not so spectacular. I don’t fault Royal Caribbean, I really just don’t think Broadway and cruise ships should meet. Nonetheless it was a fun evening.

Steph and I turned in for the night, but not before being greeted by our first towel animal of the trip!

Next stop…Haiti!
