Nashville!

A few weeks back I took a road trip with two of my best girlfriends down to Nashville. None of us had been before and we were excited for a long fall weekend to explore!

On our first full day in town we hit up Pancake Pantry for breakfast. This homey diner is quite a town tradition; lines around the building are the norm starting around 9 AM. Luckily we arrived early and were able to beat the rush and nab a table after a few minutes wait.

At a place where pancakes are your namesake, you better have great syrup! Pancake Pantry does it right with homemade syrups including delicious cinnamon cream syrup (on the right).

We ordered an array of food, coming quickly to the conclusion that Pancake Pantry is indeed all about the pancakes. Do yourself a favor when you visit and stick to the right side of the menu which boasts tons of pancake options.

The clear winner of the morning was the sweet potato pancakes. When topped with the aforementioned cinnamon cream syrup these become heaven on a plate!

Needing to walk off our breakfast, we headed across the street to start exploring the shops in the area. The best of which was a used bookstore called BookManBookWoman. Just look at these shelves!

Next we made our way over to Centennial Park to see the Parthenon. It was originally built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition and is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens.

Inside is a re-creation of the 42 foot tall statue of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory, who is the focus on the Parthenon just as she was in ancient Greece.
