Live In Your Joy.

Hello 2017!

I’ve been reflecting a lot on the past year. I came across a great exercise to ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What was the single best thing that happened to you this year?

  2. What was the single most challenging thing that happened?

  3. Pick three words to describe this past year.

  4. Who were your most valuable relationships with?

  5. In what ways did you grow emotionally?

  6. In what ways did you grow physically?

  7. In what ways did you grow spiritually?

  8. What was the most enjoyable part of your work? (professionally and at home)

  9. What was the best way you used your time this past year?

  10. What was the biggest thing you learned this past year?

This was really helpful for me in thinking about how I developed as a being in the past year. I opened a google doc and answered these questions for myself, and did not stop to think about my answers but rather just typed away. Because of this I was surprised by a few of my immediate responses and I felt like I took away more from the exercise.

I also really enjoyed these questions, as they don’t revolve around the negative. Too often we beat ourselves up for not doing something. We have to be gentler on ourselves!

A big area that I have been interested in for a while but haven’t fully explored is holistic health. When talking to my friends  I jokingly preface any fact or area I’m exploring as “my hippy dippy” find of the moment. But to me it’s a fascinating way to take better care of yourself and a higher approach to the life around you. With that I’ve been listening to the podcast “That’s So Retrograde”. The most recent episode featured a guest who used the statement “live in your joy”.

Live in your joy.

How amazing is that?

My intentions this week are to strive to honor that phrase. What can you do to live in your joy this week?

Finally, I started my year eating on the Whole 30 food plan. Funnily enough, doing Whole 30 at an extremely busy time for me has been a true eye opener in how far I’ve come as a person in the last year. A year ago I would never have tackled this; I would have found it too difficult to try. I’m really proud that it’s a challenge I’ve taken on!

Go out and love your life this week!
