The Best Musicals

I see A LOT of musicals. I’ve taken many trips solely to see a certain show. But I know everyone doesn’t love theatre. Here’s what’s worth seeing:

  1. Hamilton: obviously. It’s so worth the hype. Watch it on Disney+; trust me.

2. Mean Girls: the stage production does not disappoint.

  1. Aladdin: my top Disney production pick. It’s done so well!

  1. I love musicals as well- I rely on Charlotte’s Blumenthal Performing Arts to see musicals. Don’t live close enough to NYC- so I rely on the tours coming to Charlotte.

From your list, I only can agree with Aladdin. Saw Hamilton on Disney+ and just wasn’t much of a fan. Haven’t seen Mean Girls, but didn’t even like the chick flicks in high school

There a number of others that are in my favorites list.
    Here are some of them:

    1. Wicked
    2. Les Mis
    3. Sound of Music
    4. Annie
    5. Phantom of the Opera
    6. Rent
    7. Newsies
    8. Beauty and the Beast
    9. Lion King
    10. Aladdin
    11. etc…..as in the others I love.

    1. I love a lot of others but I feel these are for everyone. Les Mis, POTO, Miss Saigon, Natasha Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, Moulin Rouge…I like most of your list except Wicked and Annie 😊

      1. Annie is a childhood favorite of mine.

Wicked was the first show I saw on Broadway, and I was 12 at the time. That musical sparked my love for musicals. Les Mis actually turned that love into more of a passion

      2. Well, I have seen three productions of Les Mis.

1st was a community college production- that was phenomenal.

2nd was the Original staging. Loved that staging especially the us of the revolve.

3rd was the 25th anniversary staging- I actually saw it twice with the US Tour. There are elements I loved a lot more in this version than the the original.

You have to remember I only loved it for 7 years

      3. Didn’t feel too dark for me. I loved the use of the paintings on the backdrop among other things. I do prefer “Empty Chairs” in this version than the original.
